Road Improvements have been a luxury the City said they couldn’t afford for many years. Two of our new council members were able to find the money WITHOUT raising taxes. Too long have roads been at the mercy of council members who had other priorities. It is my intention to keep repairing our city roads within our current budget and not come to you with higher taxes for a basic essential.
Expansion of Housing Opportunities will be another priority. Look around, we basically live in housing and work in buildings that pre-date the extensive regulations we currently find ourselves under. The solution to our problem is less government, not more. We need to allow residential housing and granny flats etc. without permit fees. We need to do all government is able to allow the citizens of this great community to resolve this problem. This should include incentives for maximizing housing in our city.
Public Safety is another priority. We need to be able to maintain our natural environment in a way that lessens the danger of forest fires. We also need to be able clean areas in our residential neighborhoods that become fuels endangering our neighborhoods. Law and order is also a necessary component of a city that wishes to live peacefully without major crime.
Expansion of Economic Opportunity for our citizens will help to make our community economically sustainable. One way we do that is to get government out of the way and let our entrepreneurs succeed. Certainly we have to maintain the character of our neighborhoods, but let’s find ways to assist those wishing to have their own business get started without endless government restrictions. We have too many rules that do not truly serve the business community – it only stifles it.
Representing the Citizens of our City will be my focus. Have you ever wondered why the persons you have elected slowly, but consistently lose their focus and forget about the promises that have been made to you? What happens?
The system co-ops their loyalty. No longer do they represent the People that elected them, but now they serve the government. Accessibility diminishes and public hearings become mere formality.
